Capitol flag to fly at half-staff to honor fallen police officers

CARSON CITY –Governor Jim Gibbons has ordered the flag atop the Capitol in Carson City and the flag in front of the Grant Sawyer Building in Las Vegas to be flown at half-staff on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 and Saturday, November 28, 2009.

On Wednesday, November 25, funeral services will be held for Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Trevor Nettleton. Officer Nettleton was killed during an apparent attempted-home invasion at his residence. On Saturday, November 28, funeral services will be held for LVMPD Corrections Officer Daniel Leach. Officer Leach was killed in a vehicle crash while he was on a prisoner transportation assignment.

“We are all thankful for the sacrifices these officers made,” Governor Gibbons said, “And I offer my deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of Officer Nettleton and Officer Leach.”
