Renown hosts programs for breast cancer awareness month

renown_brochure_091006_b-12In honor of breast cancer awareness month, Renown Institute for Cancer is pleased to announce a special event and new education outreach program for breast cancer survivors and women attentive to their health.

Renown Hosts Breast Cancer Survivor Celebration

Breast cancer survivors and their supporters are invited to attend an informational and interactive Breast Cancer Survivor Celebration, Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at artisans market/bistro in Renown Regional Medical Center.

The evening will consist of exercise, cooking, acupuncture and skin care demonstrations. Program will include the following:

  • Heidi Shoemaker, certified personal trainer, will lead a stretching session
  • Sean Walsh, registered dietitian, will talk about the importance of nutrition in survivorship and demonstrate some easy-to-prepare recipes
  • Howard Chen, M.D., will lead an interactive session and discuss how medical acupuncture can help alleviate common side effects of cancer treatment
  • Anna Marie Bajo, RN, will discuss benefits of Omnilux treatments to rejuvenate the skin to help with collagen production and restoring a bright complexion after cancer treatments.
