U.S. Open of Watercross
June 30 - July 1
SUPcross * Hydroflight * Watercross
It’s a weekend that you don’t want to miss!
The Sparks event is the first tour stop of ProWatercross that will feature three different competition disciplines in a single event: watercross, hydroflight and SUPcross! It’s a great family outing and free to spectators. Bring a blanket and chair and enjoy a day on the beach at Sparks Marina watching fantastic race action. Some grandstand seating is available, first come, first seat. Viewing areas are wheelchair accessible. Free parking.
U.S. Open of SUPCross – Round 1 ! (June 30)
SUPcross will use the same closed course race track that is used in watercross (aka jet ski racing), which is the most dynamic setting found on flat water…period! It bridges the extensive gap between standard “straight-line” SUP races, and the more extreme elements of whitewater SUP racing. By eliminating any unforeseen hazards and establishing a safe, contained environment within a closed course race track, this allows paddlers (of all abilities) the “SUP-racing ride of their life”! Heats of up to 20 competitors race head-to-head (sprint-style) on a course featuring sharp turns and unique challenges. The action will be thrilling for the athletes and entertaining for spectators. Learn more information here or to register as a competitor. All abilities are welcome to compete! Paddle-board clinics as well!
What is a Hydroflight Competition ? (June 30)
Its the coolest thing you’ll even see. This exciting new extreme sport is taking the water sports industry by storm and uses the power of water to send a rider flying through the air at extreme speeds and diving through the water as effortlessly as a dolphin. For competition, a rider does a timed freestyle routine such as flips, spins, dives and high heights. Two tricks in particular can score the highest points by judges, “Superman” (the rider goes completely horizontal) and “threading the needle” (the rider does a flip and comes back through the hose ring they just created). Athletes constantly push the boundaries to create new tricks as well! When the sun goes down, the riders light up – it will be truly electric!
U.S. Open of Watercross (July 1)
The Pro Watercross Tour is the country’s premier racing circuit and showcases the finest seasoned professional and amateur athletes in the highly explosive and exciting sport of personal watercraft racing. The annual competition attracts the best riders throughout the U.S. and the world, including Australia, Columbia, Kuwait, and Indonesia. Competitors vie for the prestigious title of US Open of Watercross Champion.
The closed course features a buoy-marked, 1/2- to 3/4-mile track that is designed to keep the competition tight and fans close to the action. With speeds of up to 90mph, it’s motocross on the water, with handle bar-to-handle bar competition that pits rider and machine in a personal watercraft battlefield. The same course is also used for the SUP-cross competition.
