UNR Celebrates Crowley Student Union’s 10th Year with Events, Freebies

The Joe Crowley Student Union at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) marks its 10th anniversary Nov. 13-16 with several events and giveaways throughout the building.

  • Student Appreciation Day is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. Monday in the Glick Ballrooms. Free massages, inflatable obstacle courses, and goodie bags will be available.
  • From 8:10 a.m. to 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, vendor voucher cards for a free meal or beverage will be handed out at 10 minutes after the hour at the information desk.
  • Pizza with president Marc Johnson is scheduled from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Blind Onion Pizza and Wings. Also, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, UNR’s Coffee House Series takes place with live music at Blind Onion.
  • A cake-cutting ceremony is scheduled from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Nevada Lounge.

The facility is named after Joe Crowley, who served as UNR’s president from 1978 and 2001. The 167,000-square-foot, environmentally-friendly building opened in November 2007, replacing the Jot Travis Student Union.
