Date:

By Carla O’Day

The Washoe County School District’s School Naming Committee is accepting applications and letters of interest from the public who want a say in naming future schools.

The 11-member committee will be made up of one district representative selected by the superintendent, seven members of the public—one from each trustee district, one high school student and two at-large members. The deadline to apply is May 19.

Ways to apply are as follows:

A new elementary school in South Reno is expected in fall 2019. Middle schools in Spanish Springs and Sun Valley are scheduled to open then, too, followed by a high school planned for 2021.
