The Nevada Arts Council (NAC) recently selected eight artists for fellowship funding.

Four were awarded grants of $5,000, three received honorable mentions worth $500 and one received a fellowship grant of $7,000.

Panelists reviewed 68 applications and developed a list of recommendations, which the NAC board approved June 22, 2015 at public meetings held at Truckee Meadows Community College.

“On behalf of the NAC Board, I want to congratulate the 2016 Visual Artist Fellowship Grant recipients as well as Joseph DeLappe selected as the first recipient of the Fellowship Project Grant, established this year,” said Julia Arger, NAC board chair. “The impressive, professional panel of three out of state judges provided thoughtful, specific and critical feedback for the 60 Artists in the Fellowship Grant category as well as the eight Fellowship Project Grant applicants. All of the artists demonstrated the exceptional quality of talent we have in Nevada.”

Now we must also focus our attention directly on the corporations like NV Energy and Berkshire Hathaway, who are responsible for climate change, high energy burdens and political corruption and put an end to business as usual.
