Rock Boulevard Closure at McCarran: Get Info. Here

Date:

Rock Boulevard will be closed at its southern connection to McCarran Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 30th.

The closure is necessary for milling operations that are taking place as part of the Southeast McCarran Boulevard Widening Project. McCarran Boulevard will remain open, however with reduced lanes. Drivers may detour around the closure of Rock at McCarran by using Mill Street or Longley Lane. Access to nearby businesses will be preserved during the closure. The RTC is enacting the closure on a Saturday in order to minimize impacts to traffic and reduce delays.

The Southeast McCarran Boulevard Widening Project is now in its second and final phase. The project will result in three travel lanes for vehicles in each direction, a new paved multi-use path, new sidewalks and a new pedestrian bridge over the Truckee River. The project helps accommodate growth, improves safety and enhances accessibility in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

During construction, people should plan for delays and lane closures within the project area, which is McCarran
Boulevard from Greg Street to Mira Loma Drive. Additional lanes will be opening as construction progresses this summer. This project is a $31 million investment in our community.
