tedxreno-lear-theater-518x500-3194872-7772274TEDxReno, an independently organized TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) event, is spreading big ideas in Reno and beyond at its third annual day of talks.

This year’s theme “Reno’s Resurgence.” The event will feature a roster of local and nation speakers.

It’s being held at the Lear Theater at 528 West First Street on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Local TEDx events are an incredible way to incite real and lasting change in a community,” said Doug Erwin, TEDxReno curator and Vice President of Entrepreneurial Development at the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN). “Our team, in addition to EDAWN and the entrepreneurial community of Reno are truly looking forward to creating an experience that involves many different facets of Reno’s makeup, and brings speakers with new viewpoints that will serve to guide our city during this pivotal time in our growth and development.”

The Lear will only be open for the event on October 2 before closing again to the public. Those interested in speaking can visit www.tedxreno.com/apply and follow the instructions to submit an application.

“A speaker for a TEDx event is one who brings something bigger to the table, something that will make our attendees sit up, think and feel empowered to make a difference in their own world,” said Rory O’Brien, TEDxReno co-founder. “The goal here is to showcase hidden talent within Reno while motivating our fellow citizens to achieve greatness. It’s important for everyone to realize they are a functioning part of society, and can make a difference just by taking action.”
