Every Hero Has a Story this summer with Washoe County Library System’s summer reading program.

Studies have shown that kids who read are more likely to do better academically. Informal reading increases a child’s retention, comprehension, and more. “Reading programs help keep kids engaged with learning in the most fun ways which is especially important during the summer break,” says Beate Weinert, Washoe County Library Programs and Community Collaborations Coordinator. “We invite readers of all ages to join us at the library this summer.”

Kids can log their reading time, earning free books and other prizes, including entries into drawings for ski passes, museum passes, and more.

The festivities start Friday, May 1 at all Washoe County Library branches. Click here to sign up.
