The Truckee Meadows Community College Theatre Department presents Mel Brooks’ The Producers – the musical.

The musical opens Friday, April 3 at 7:30 and plays for three weeks, closing with a matinee on April 19, 2015.

Originally produced on Broadway in 2001, The Producers received 12 Tony Award Nominations and 11 Drama Desk Award Nominations. This production is rated PG-13. Tickets range from $10 – $17 and are available online at www.showtix4u.com or through the TMCC Box Office at: 775-673-7291. TMCC Redfield Performing Arts Center is located at 505 Keystone Avenue on the corner of 5th and Keystone (next to Save Mart). Parking is free.

Description of the musical:

What happens when a down-on-his-luck producer and his nerdy accountant find out they owe big time taxes? They set out to create a huge write- off by producing the biggest flop Broadway has ever seen! But will it fail? They are taking no chances as they have found the perfect script: “Springtime for Hitler.”

You will never forget the names of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom — or the dancing grannies and grand musical numbers. With a truly hysterical book co-written by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan (Annie) and music and lyrics by Mr. Brooks, The Producers skewers Broadway traditions and takes no prisoners as it proudly proclaims itself an “equal opportunity offender!”
