Not only is Dave Eggers having his first ever museum exhibition Insufferable Throne of God at the Nevada Museum of Art, but he’ll be giving a talk, with Nion McEvoy, CEO of Chronicle Books, about his art process, creative production, and the themes embedded in the show. Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 2!

Eggers is a critically acclaimed San Francisco-based author, known for works such as A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, his first memoir. What many people aren’t aware of is that Eggers studied and created visual art before turning to writing as his creative medium of choice.

The inspiration behind Insufferable Throne of God is, obviously, the Bible. Eggers uses drawings and paintings and words to create images. Many of the images in Insufferable are of animals and plaintive text drawn from the Old Testament. As Eggers explains, “I think of what that animal might be thinking – if that animal had an antagonistic relationship with humans and was vying with those humans for the favor of a Catholic God.”

The talk will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 2. A meet & greet and book signing will follow the conversation. Dave Eggers: Insufferable Throne of God will be exhibited now through July 26, 2015 in the Casazza Gallery at the Nevada Museum of Art, Donald W. Reynolds Center for the Visual Arts, E. L. Wiegand Gallery located at 160 West Liberty Street in downtown Reno.
