Alexander MendezBetween February 12 and February 23, a total of 452 citations were issued by the Washoe County Sheriffs Office. Of those, 195 were issued for distracted driving. See other violations here.

February 22, 2015

Alexander Hankins was arrested on charges of kidnapping with a firearm, armed robbery, and grand larceny of a vehicle on Stardust Avenue. The incident occurred when Hankins and the victim were en-route to an undisclosed location. Hankins pulled a gun and demanded the victim drive to a specific location. Once there, Hankins locked the victim up and stole his money and vehicle. The car was found a short time later wit the suspect still inside. A second suspect is identified but still outstanding.

February 23, 2015

At around 6:40 a.m., a white Kia was traveling south on McCarran when it crossed a raised median and crashed head-on into a red Cadillac traveling north. The driver of the Kia was deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Cadillac were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

February 24, 2015

At around 6:45 p.m., Sparks police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 1700 Burnside Drive. One female victim was transported to Renown for treatment of a gunshot wound. There was another female witness who was not harmed. The victims arrived at the suspect’s home to retrieve some property. The suspect confronted the victims in the driveway and shot one victim. He returned to the home and was found deceased when officers arrived on the scene. His cause of death is not know and the investigation is ongoing.

Krista Akhtar was arrested on traffic violations and possession of drug paraphernalia at Cassazza and Kirman. Officers were conducting a multiple violation traffic stop when the suspect became belligerent, refused to follow commans, and attempted to pull away from officers.

Richard Haselip was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle on East 4th Street.

Dennis Hadler was arrested for trespassing on Foothill Road. When officers made contact, Hadler physically resisted arrest and attempted to kick officers.

Demarrea Patrick was arrested for armed robbery with a firearm, burglary with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy on Evelyn.

Joshua Jackson was arrested for burglary and petit larceny at Prater and Pyramid. When officers made contact with Jackson, he attempted to flee the scene.

February 25, 2015

52-year-old Santiago Lopez is a Tier III sex offender residing in the 7000 block of Cumberland Circle and is currently unemployed. Lopez is in compliance with all sex offender laws and is not currently wanted by law enforcement.

Luz Reyes-Galvan was last seen in October 2014. She is known to frequent local casinos. Anyone with information should call Sparks Police at 775-353-2225 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.

Alexander Mendez-Cerros was arrested in response to an ATM robbery that took place back in January. The Regional Gang Unit worked with Sparks Police’s CSU department to development suspect information leading to the arrest. (See Photo)

A victim on Holcomb Avenue woke to find a burglary suspect in her bedroom; the suspect fled when the victim struck him in the head. The suspect is described as a black male adult, mid 30s to mid 40s, 5’9”, medium build, and last seen wearing a black puffy jacket, black pants, and a gray beanie.

A robbery/battery with a deadly weapon occurred when a victim attempted to stop a suspect from leaving without paying for his merchandise. The suspect slashed the victim with a piece from a broke glass bottle before fleeing. The suspect is described as a hispanic male adult, early 20s, 5’7”, slender, and was last seen wearing black pants, black shoes, a gray sweatshirt underneath a black jacket, and gloves of an unknown color.

Robert Weaver was arrested for domestic battery on North Virginia Street.

February 26, 2015

Steve Adams was sentenced to 10 years in prison for exploitation of an elderly person. Adams met the victim in a grocery store parking lot, offering to do body work on her vehicle. He went on to scam the victim out of more than $300,000 over the next nine months. Adams is linked to a group of criminal gypsies who prey on elderly victims.

Paul Revell was sentenced to life in prison for the first degree murder of his infant son. Revell was alone with his then 4-month-old son in 2010 while the child’s mother was at school. Revell claims he left the child unattended for just a moment and that he rolled off the bed to the floor. An autopsy showed diffuse and severe traumatic brain, spinal and ophthalmic injuries. The final cause of death was determined to be homicide.

Tyler Thompson was arrested for burglary and grand larceny on South Virginia Street. The business manager arrived at the scene to find a window pried open, the interior ransacked, and money stolen from the register. The suspect was located nearby.

Destinee Trujillo was arrested for battery with a deadly weapon, vehicle and domestic battery at Colorado River and Liston.

Kayman Roach was arrested for possession of paraphernalia and Benjamin Lewis was arrested on a warrant on North Sierra Street. The arrests occurred after officers responded to a report of suspicious activity near an RV.

Robert White was arrested on charges grand larceny of an automobile on Mill Street. He was being treated at Renown when he decided he didn’t want to be treated any longer so he stole an ambulance.

February 27, 2015

Logan Knight, who was involved in a fatal accident earlier in the week, was declared dead due to the injuries he suffered during the accident. The driver of the car involved in the accident, Paul Williams, was declared deceased at the scene. The investigation is still ongoing.
