Mark Thursday, March 5 on your calendars for the Reno stop of the 14th annual LUNAFEST: Short Films By, For, About Women. Begun in the early 2000s, LUNAFEST is the fundraising film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women’s issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities. The event will be hosted by the Zonta Club of Greater Reno.

The film genres are as diverse as their producers, directors, and actors. There’s something for everyone, from animation to drama to documentaries, and everything in between. The films cover topics from motherhood to female health to body image issues and more. The films each tell an important story about women, creating excellent discussion and raising awareness about the myriad issues affecting women in America and around the world today.

Proceeds from LUNAFEST will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and Zonta Club of Greater Reno Grants & Scholarships Fund. Thus far, LUNAFEST, which is created and funded by LUNA®, The Whole Nutrition Bar for Women®, raised over $656,000 for Breast Cancer Fund and over $1,250,000 for other women’s non-profit organizations.

This year’s event will be be at Truckee Meadows Community College in the Sierra Room (room 108). TMCC is located at 7000 Dandini Blvd. To purchase tickets, click here. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students with valid student ID.
