Backwash Project Great Outdoors Logo

Do you love craft beer? Do you make your own beer at home? If so, get ready to showcase your very best ale at Backwash, the area’s premier tasting event for home brewers. This year’s event will benefit Project Great Outdoors, which has, since 1999 been providing kids with a healthier outlook on life, both emotionally and physically. The program takes kids on great outdoor adventures teaching them essential life skills, such as resiliency and confidence.

The call for entries is open from now until April 1. Submit your best craft beers/ales, ciders, and/or barley wines for judging in the competition. Entry is free and includes two tickets to the event, which will take place April 25.

Backwash crowns champions in People’s Choice and Brewer’s Choice. The Brewer’s Choice award winner will get their submission brewed at Silver Peak, where it will also become part of the tap lineup at the restaurant. The winner also receives a keg for personal consumption. The People’s Choice winner earns themselves $500.

The last event raised more than $12,000 and a number of past participants now own their own craft breweries. The 2015 event will take place April 25 at Freight House District at the Reno Aces Ballpark.
