In a Special Meeting of the Reno City Council held today, Council unanimously approved to amend the existing contract between the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA), the City of Reno, and United States Bowling Congress (USBC) to conduct national bowling tournaments in Reno.

The second amendment, meant to set the site fee payments for tournaments hosted in Reno to a more comparable level with what USBC is receiving in other markets, contains the following contract revisions:

It increases the unique bowler payment to USBC to $30 per unique bowler as a site fee payment, and sets the lineage at $2.

Changes the cycle of tournaments to the previous rotation, with Championships coming to Reno every three years.

Shortens the calendar of USBC events through 2026 instead of 2030.

Extends out the date of completion for certain projects at the National Bowling Stadium, such as the remodel of the stadium seating area on the fourth floor and the construction of a new food and beverage outlet.

Reduces the amount dedicated from the $2 per night surcharge to the facility upgrades and renovations from 75% to 50%.

Additionally, the RSCVA and Partner Properties (area casino-resorts) may seek legislative approval to allow an existing $2 per night surcharge to be used for the site fees. The resulting change would mean a third contract amendment with payment to the USBC per unique bowler to $40 as a site fee payment. The proposed payment would be: the RSCVA paying $20 per bowler, the surcharge paying $14 per bowler, and the Partner Properties paying $6 per bowler.
