NRCS invites public to advisory committee meeting Nov. 18

The public is invited to the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service’s Nevada State Advisory Committee meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. – noon. The meeting will be held by videoconference from the NRCS Nevada State Office in Reno at 1365 Corporate Blvd. Remote video locations will be available at the NRCS offices in Caliente, Elko, Ely, Fallon, Las Vegas, Lovelock, Minden, Winnemucca and Yerington, as well as the Carson City U.S. Forest Service Office and in Moapa Valley in Southern Nevada at the Logandale Cooperative Extension Office.

The meeting is being held to discuss the 2014 Farm Bill programs administered by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Topics will include financial assistance and easement programs being offered for fiscal year 2015.

The Committee is composed of agricultural producers, owners and operators of nonindustrial private forest land and other professionals who represent a variety of interests and disciplines in soil, water, wetlands and plant and wildlife sciences. Members include NRCS, Farm Service Agency, U.S. Forest Service, Tribes, appropriate state departments and agencies, such as Agriculture, Fish and Wildlife and others.
The goal of the State Technical Advisory Committee meeting is to provide information, analysis and recommendations to NRCS and other USDA agencies responsible for natural resources conservation activities and programs under title XII of the Food and Security Act of 1985, as amended.
