MIKE MAZZAFERRI NEWS RELEASE

mazzaferri_filing_rcc_march72014-300x225-9947340-4483386 Longtime Reno resident, business owner and former director of Reno’s golf course facilities Mike Mazzaferri is pleased to announce his candidacy for Reno City Council Ward Four.

Mazzaferri has been a full-time resident of Ward Four for nearly five years after moving from south Reno. The ward spans a considerable area in the North Valleys, north from the Hug High School neighborhood to the entrance of the Red Rock area including Stead, Silver Lake, Panther Valley and Golden Valley.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Mazzaferri has resided in Reno since 1978.

Since that time he has been a successful business manager, entrepreneur, retailer and golf course operator/manager. In 2009, he formed Cal-Mazz Golf Corp, which took over the management of the Sierra Sage Golf Course, an endeavor that kept the course from closure and has turned around an important public recreation asset.

Mazzaferri is also program manager for Capital Insurance Group’s golf course and facilities insurance program that he was instrumental in developing. He is co-founder of the Golf the High Sierra marketing group and was executive vice president of Evaporative Control Systems, Inc, a startup company that patented and manufactured irrigation/drainage technology.

He has been a familiar face to regional golfers having been the director golf, instructor or head professional at Hidden Valley Country Club, Red Hawk Golf Resort, Lakeridge Golf Course and Wildcreek Golf Course. He was the city of Reno’s golf division director, managing Rosewood Lakes and Brookside Golf courses through eight positive budget cycles.

Mazzaferri says that his participation in local government and his experience as a business owner have stoked his desire for public service.

“I love this town. My family has settled into a great neighborhood in Golden Valley that is a tight knit community which is full of energy, full of young families who also love it here and want to build a future here.” Mazzaferri said. “I can help them. I can help this community with my budgeting knowledge, marketing skills and experience as a small business owner.”

Mike and his wife Denise are the parents of three adult age children. They are active in the golf philanthropy business as well. They have instigated and collaborated on numerous programs that help young golfers reach college, as well as events that give back to our wounded veterans, helping them get back on the golf course and back to active, healthy lives.

Mike Mazzaferri may be reached at (775) 247-1782 or [email protected], or at the candidate’s website at www.mazz4reno.com.
