KIDS UNIVERSITY RETURNS FOR SUMMER 2014 AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA, RENO

block_n-7173266-2081732March 11, 2014 — Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno presents another fun-filled summer with KIDS University (we call it KIDS U, for short), a day camp open to children entering grades 2-8, with seven weeklong sessions and cool class subjects to energize minds and bodies all summer long. The camp runs MondayFriday, from June 16-Aug. 1, 2014, and includes half-day morning sessions and full-day sessions. Early registration is encouraged as some sessions can fill fast. KIDS U is held at the University of Nevada, Reno and is a great way to introduce young scholars and student athletes to campus activities and experiences while enjoying a summer of fun.

NEW for 2014! Online registration is available 24/7 at http://www.unr.edu beginning Saturday, March 22, with a new schedule this year for opening day of registration: 
• For children entering GRADES 2-4: Online registration opens at 8 a.m., March 22
• For children entering GRADES 5-8: Online registration opens at 10 a.m., March 22
Online registration continues for all grades through midnight, Sunday, July 27.
KIDS U features a wide range of engaging and stimulating classes and activities designed by K-12 educators to be age appropriate for children entering specific grades in the fall. Camp instructors include Washoe County School District teachers, University of Nevada, Reno College of Education students and Wolf Pack student athletes; KIDS U counselors include additional University of Nevada, Reno students experienced with educating and coaching young campers. KIDS U junior counselors are high school students, many of whom are former KIDS U campers themselves. This year’s 55 KIDS U topics include sports and games skills, arts and crafts, theatre, music and dance, fitness and healthcare, earth and lab sciences, history, math, robotics, model rocketry, Spanish, American Sign Language, computer programming and web design, journalism and broadcasting, mountain biking and rock climbing, literary writing and more.    
KIDS U offers five-day sessions in both full-day and half-day (morning) options. Full-day sessions run MondayFriday, from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., with a lunch break followed by afternoon recreational activities; half-day sessions run from 7:30 a.m.-noon. Individual fees range from $160-$210/per week for full-day camp and $112-$140/per week for half-day (morning) camp. A $25 deposit per weekly session is due at registration, which holds your space in camp; full payment is due two weeks prior to the start of each weekly session. Full payment is due upon registration for late registrations, if space is available.
All registration will be online for opening day of registration, beginning Saturday, March 22 at 8 a.m. for grades 2-4 and at 10 a.m. for grades 5-8.
