ATLANTIS NEWS -– The Autism Coalition of Nevada and the UC Davis Mind Institute introduce Dr. Temple Grandin as the guest speaker at an event held at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa’s Paradise Ballroom Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013. Grandin will speak on “The Autistic Brain” and key points regarding the new DSM-V.

Approximately 40 vendors will be present when doors open at 5 p.m. and Grandin will speak at 7 p.m. Following her presentation, Grandin will be available for questions and answers, and to autograph her book, “The Autistic Brain – Thinking Across the Spectrum.” A separate room will be available for those participants with sensory sensitivities who might need some quiet time.

Born autistic, Temple Grandin has become a leading advocate for autistic communities, and in 2010, HBO released an Emmy Award winning film on her life. Grandin has a degree in psychology, followed by masters and doctoral degrees in animal science.

Tickets are available by calling ACON at 775-329-2268 and will be available at the door. The cost is $10 for parents, relatives and students and $20 for professionals and general admission. Those interested in a booth at the event are encouraged to call Toni Richard at 775-324-5085.
