EDAWN Existing Industry Awards to recognize local companies

Date:

EDAWN NEWS RELEASE

edawn-4226426-1358281EDAWN is hosting the second annual Existing Industry Awards on Oct. 3 at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino. Join us as we take an opportunity to support and acknowledge a small but significant sector of our local employers who create a large number of jobs and bring revenue into the state of Nevada.

EDAWN’s Existing Industry Awards recognize existing primary companies in the region; companies with business locations in the area which generate more than 50% of their business from outside the region, typically importing wealth and exporting a product or service. Nominees were accepted from individuals, companies, community partners and a nominating committee.

“Other events celebrate those companies that have chosen to re-locate to Northern Nevada, however this event is designed to thank and recognize all those great companies, small and large, who are the foundation of the local economy, the primary employers in the region”, said Nancy McCormick Vice President of Retention and Expansion for EDAWN. “This is a great opportunity for the community to come out in support of existing companies who employ local Nevadans, and who make significant contributions to the economic vitality of the region and the community each and every day. Some of the nominees have been in business only a short while and others for years or even decades. Many of these companies fly under the radar screen, and many people may not even know who they are. This event will put a spotlight on the diversity of business that exists right here in Washoe County, the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center and the City of Fernley. ”

The number of nominations doubled from last year’s awards, and a new category has been added: the Biggest Little WOW! This category was created to highlight companies in exciting, unique, innovative lines of business and includes 15 nominees. Other categories are: Capital Investment, Leader in Sustainability, We Think Local, Corporate Citizen, Significant Expansion, Community Partner and Company of the Year. Most categories will have both a large and small business winners. To view a complete list of nominations please go here.

The event is open to the public, and attendance is encouraged for those who want to support local business, meet primary employers and network with other business leaders. The event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Peppermill Resort, Spa/Casino Tuscany Ballroom.
