Circus Circus Reno brings air balloon to local elementary school

Date:

ccrballoon-web-3038558-1936708CIRCUS CIRCUS NEWS RELEASE – Education can be fun, that is what Circus Circus thinks. We brought the Balloon Races to a local elementary school in order to teach what makes an air balloon fly the only way we knew how—by bringing the students an air balloon.

On Thursday September 5th the students of Westergard Elementary School in Reno had the opportunity to explore a hot air balloon and the chance to ask the important questions—just how does an air balloon fly?

The balloon expert is Kent Barnes who has been enjoying flying hot air balloons since his initial lighter-than-air flight in 2002. Within six weeks of his first flight in a balloon, he purchased BelleStar, his first balloon, and completed the requirements to add a commercial lighter-than-air type rating to his pilot certificate.

Kent has had the opportunity to travel and fly at locations and events across the western United States, as well many international events in the Middle East, South and Central America as well as Asia Pacific. One of his greatest joys is to introduce the sport of hot air ballooning to people for their first time. It is Kent’s desire to promote ballooning as a fun-filled family activity.

Kent has been a participant in the Great Reno Balloon Races and has been flying as an airborne ambassador for Circus Circus Reno since 2007 and loves the opportunity to show what it is he does and how he does it.

The Annual Balloon Races are held this year September 6 – 8 at Rancho San Rafael. Parking is limited and the mornings are early, but this is not a sight to miss.

Circus Circus Reno is an MGM Resorts International® Destination with six unique dining options including local favorites the Steakhouse at Circus, Kokopelli’s Sushi and Dos Geckos Cantina.
