Boys and Girls Club’s 12th annual “Day for Kids” offers free festival for children

Day for Kids 2BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF TRUCKEE MEADOWS NEWS RELEASE – The Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows hosts its annual Day for Kids event at the Sparks Marina on Saturday, September 21, featuring a free barbecue lunch, free T- shirts, games, arts & crafts, face painting, Soil Tech sand-castle-building and informational vendor booths for both parents and children. The event, held in conjunction with Boys and Girls Clubs across the nation, is designed to encourage adults to spend meaningful time with kids by spending a day together and to provide families with the resources needed to live a quality, healthy lifestyle.

The family event presented by Cashman Equipment runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and features vendors such as Renown Children’s Hospital, Amerigroup, Washoe County District Attorney, Immunize Nevada, Small Smiles, KNPB, Nevada Virtual Academy, Soil-Tech, Office of Suicide Prevention, Washoe County Health District, Washoe County Social Services, Sparks Kiwanis, Discovery Museum, First Tee of Northern Nevada, Washoe County School District Parent University, Washoe County Child ID Program and many more.

Research shows that when adults spend meaningful time with kids it helps them develop a positive self-image and a sense of belonging, usefulness and purpose. Now, more than ever, Boys and Girls Club Day For Kids provides adults and kids an opportunity to take a break from their busy lives and celebrate the wonder of life and the fulfillment of spending time together.
