CITY OF RENO NEWS RELEASE

reno-logo-9934693-2280574Reno is ready for the annual Hot August Nights celebration that begins today and continues through Sunday, Aug. 11.
Reno will be filled with thousands of visitors enjoying classic cars, a little nostalgia and various events throughout the area. The inaugural Hot August Nights Auction Presented by Barrett-Jackson will take place in Reno Tahoe.  The new partnership between Barrett-Jackson and Hot August Nights will allow auction buyers to be able to bid on and purchase from Barrett-Jackson’s famous selection of collector cars and take them right from the auction block to participate in one of Hot August Nights’ cruises or show-n-shines.
With all the great activities for Hot August Night there will be some street closures. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use extra caution to help keep the streets safe for everyone. For a complete list of street closures and lane restrictions visit Reno.gov and click on the “Maps & Construction” section.
On March 13, the Reno City Council approved $40,000 in in-kind sponsorship for city services for the event which will cover the costs associated with public safety, traffic control and city personnel. This year will be the third year that the city has partnered with Hot August Nights and the downtown casino properties to allow beer garden concept for the entire footprint of the downtown venue.  The partnerships between the city of Reno and the downtown properties have assisted with reducing city service costs overtime.
The city of Reno strives to enhance the quality of life for our community by promoting a sustainable and vibrant economy. Supporting and helping grow both regional and local special events in the community is just one example. For more information about Reno’s special events visit Reno.gov/Events.
