Virginia Street, Reno. The show opens on September 11, and runs through October 5 with an artist reception sponsored by Wild River Grille on Friday, September 13, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The works, artistic interpretations of the Nevada landscape, are meant to convey the subtle beauty of the Nevada environment and the sometimes contrasting extreme weather influencing the landscape.

Maria Partridge has been teaching art; drawing, painting, watercolor and graphic design at Truckee Meadows Community College since 2002. “As a California transplant, it took me years to appreciate the quiet subtle palette of the Nevada landscape” says Partridge. “The paintings are about being present in nature and seeing the beauty all around us. From Lake Tahoe to the Black Rock Desert to my backyard – Nevada is amazing and should be protected. It is NOT a wasteland.”

Partridge has exhibited throughout the United States. Solo shows have included the Nevada Museum of Art, Sierra Arts Gallery, Truckee River Gallery, and the Agora Gallery (SoHo) in New York City. She received her Masters of Arts degree from California State University, Sacramento in 2004. Her work is represented in national and international private collections. She was nominated for the prestigious Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant in New York in 2007.
