MI FAMILIA VOTA NEWS RELEASE

mifamilia-200x300-9528178-6069998The message that Mi Familia Vota and other local Alliance for Citizenship leaders and hundreds of community members and volunteers will bring to key Congressional representatives in Nevada and across the country while House members are home for the August recess is clear:

American voters support reform. The Senate passed a comprehensive, bipartisan bill and now it’s time for the House of Representatives to listen to the American people and pass a comprehensive bill to fix our broken immigration system. This is the time for leaders in the House to lead with strong policy and not bad politics. This is the right thing for our country, our economy, and our community to speak out.

“All Nevada constituents rely on their Congress members to represent them responsibly. This includes tackling the most difficult challenges facing our nation, like reforming our immigration laws. We are mobilizing this month to ensure Congressman Mark Amodei understands the urgency of common sense immigration reform,” said Leo Murrieta, Nevada State Director for Mi Familia Vota.

“This summer we urge Congress to take a vote on reform with a pathway towards citizenship in the House of Representatives. Eleven million workers, small business owners, along with their family members and colleagues are counting on your leadership.”

Mobilization efforts this weekend will include a large community canvassing organized by Mi Familia Vota Nevada and local partners. Immigrant, Latino, and Asian communities who have voted for and mobilized in support of reform for years, along with our allies in labor, business, and faith communities simply won’t settle for inaction on reform.
