SUBMITTED NEWS — The Great Reno Balloon Race is right around the corner. For the 32nd year, dozens of hot air balloons will take to the skies over Reno, launching from Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. Spectators can enjoy free admission, art shows, and kids’ activities all weekend long at the Wilbur D. May Museum.

The May Museum will operate with special hours on September 6, 7, and 8 with a variety of events. Visitors can check out the “Power of Plants” art show from the Sierra Watercolor Society and vote for a favorite. 32 years of official Great Reno Balloon Race posters are also on display in the gallery. Younger guests can test their finding skills with a scavenger hunt for a chance to win a prize. The museum will also offer special free activities for kids:

· Friday, September 6; 11 am – 1 pm: Make your own hot air balloon!

· Saturday, September 7; 11am & 1pm: Enjoy screenings of the Disney Pixar movie “UP” (Rated PG) and popcorn.

· Sunday, September 8; 11 am – 1pm: Paws 2 Read therapy dogs visit to promote literacy. Pick out a book, read it to a dog, and take the book home to keep.
