GSR NEWS RELEASE

newgrandsierralogo-1124278-5292655This week, as the rumble of engines fill the streets of Reno and Sparks, Grand Sierra Resort and Casino will become the ultimate destination for car enthusiasts, rock ‘n’ roll fans and revelers alike. More than 20,000 attendees and participants with their hot rods, muscle cars and classic cars will fill the parking lot for the annual Classic Cherry Show-n-Shine, while music fans will crowd the stage to catch a song from Bill Medley or Paul Revere & The Raiders. Truly, northern Nevada’s premier resort will have something for everyone during the 27th annual Hot August Nights.

“We are proud to be a partner to this great event and are looking forward to an exciting and special week,” said Steve Rosen, general manager of Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. “With more than $25 million in renovations in the past year, this resort has evolved into the ultimate destination and we encourage locals and visitors alike to enjoy the many activities we have scheduled here this week.”

Beginning Tuesday, GSR will, once again, play host to the most thrilling activity to hit the streets of Reno-Tahoe in Hot August Night’s 27-year history. The Ride and Drives, presented by General Motors Co., will take passengers on the ride of their lives as a stunt driver speeds around a course in a brand new Corvette or Camaro.

On Wednesday, event-goers can stop by the Grand Theatre to see Alan Taylor of “The Drive” and this year’s Grand Marshal’s top picks from his exclusive Show-n-Shine. The Grand Marshal Show-n-Shine Display will highlight Taylor’s favorites from Downtown Reno, Victorian Ave. and GSR. The display will be on stage daily through Saturday.

After the cruising, showing and shining is done for the day, GSR will kick off as the official after party of Hot August Nights with festivities running Wednesday through Saturday at WET Ultra Lounge. WET offers not only music, drinks and dancing but the WET Party Pit provides tantalizing dealers and talented entertainment to keep the party going all night long.

On Thursday, the ultimate car enthusiasts will rejoice as Troy Trepanier of “Rad Rides by Troy” stops by to sign autographs. Also stopping by will be Richard Rawlings of Gas Monkey Garage who will be announcing his Customized Camaro Giveaway. The Camaro, which will be customized by Rawlings himself on his top-rated TV show Fast N’ Loud on The Discovery, will ultimately be given away this October at GSR.

The Hot August Nights excitement continues into the weekend with top-notch entertainment and car shows and even more great giveaways.
