Chief among them is the President and CEO of PBS, Paula Kerger. She will be joined by the 3 former KNPB Presidents and CEOs Jim Pagliarini, Rick Schneider and Kliff Kuehl. Daniel Tiger from the popular PBS Kids series Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood will also make an appearance at the gala.

The 2013 gala will be held October 10, 2013 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino and honor Gail and John Sande, III. They have been selected as this year’s honorees due to their extensive commitment to KNPB and the local community. The gala also kicks-off the yearlong celebration around the 30th anniversary of KNPB.

Since becoming President and CEO of PBS in 2006, Kerger has made particularly strong commitments to the arts, news and public affairs, high-quality content for education, diversity, and the use of new technology to bring public media into the lives of all Americans.

“KNPB has been an outstanding resource offering enriching programming and educational services to so many in northern Nevada and northeastern California,” said Kerger.

Each former KNPB leader has helped build the organization, so that it can continually develop, purchase, and broadcast local and national programming and provide enriching educational services to area schools and families.

Jim Pagliarini served KNPB from the station’s inception in 1981 through 1998. In addition to launching the station’s on-air signal in 1983, he led KNPB through its first capital campaign to build the E.L. Cord Public Telecommunications Center that houses the station. Through his leadership, the KNPB Endowment Fund was also established. He is now the President and CEO of Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) serving the Minneapolis and Saint Paul areas and has been the catalyst in implementing new media tools at TPT.

Rick Schneider, KNPB President and CEO from 1998 – 2004, recently accepted the COO post at WETA in Arlington, VA. Before accepting this most recent position Schneider served as President of WPBT in Miami, Florida. While at KNPB, Schneider launched the station’s second capital campaign to transition to digital broadcast. In 2000, KNPB became the first station in the region to broadcast a high definition (HD) signal.

Kliff Kuehl served as KNPB President and CEO from 2004- 2009 and is now the CEO of Kansas City Public Television (KCPT) serving nearly one million viewers each week. During his 5 years at KNPB, Kuehl completed the capital campaign to transition to digital broadcast and lead the station in its pursuit of improving and expanding its online efforts.

Sponsored tables for Aged to Perfection are available for $2,500 – $25,000. Individual tables are available for $2,000 and individual tickets are $250. All proceeds help support KNPB programs and educational services utilized throughout northern Nevada and northeastern California.
