WASHOE COUNTY NEWS — The Reno Rodeo is the “Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West” and has a long history in the Truckee Meadows. Bartley Ranch Regional Park has direct ties to the rodeo through former owner and bronc riding champion Gus Bartley, and the park is currently featuring an exhibit of artifacts and memorabilia from the rodeo’s storied past. The Reno Rodeo normal exhibit hours are 8 a.m.–5 p.m. daily and admission is free.
This Saturday, July 13, there will also be a special open house from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The historic Huffaker School and the historic Ranch Preserve will be open for tours, and local historians Jack Hursh and Loren John will provide their expertise and knowledge of the historic Ranch Preserve. Park rangers will conduct tours of the Huffaker School and there will be activities for kids, including scavenger hunts, roping stations and crafts.
