The Sierra School of Performing Arts invites you to murder mayhem, a casting call, and performance camp

SIERRA SCHOOL OF PERFORMING ARTS NEWS RELEASE – Sierra School of Performing Arts brings murder, mystery and mayhem to the stage with their fast-paced comedy “The Dinner Party!”  This crazy comedy is set at a soiree in a millionaire mogul’s mansion which turns deadly. The question becomes who murdered the host? The show runs May 17-18, at 7:30 p.m. and May 19, at 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The location is Pioneer Underground Theater. The school is also holding a casting call for Bye Bye Birdie on May 22 and May 23, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., check-in no later than 7:30 p.m., at Bishop Manogue High School’s Music Room, 110 Bishop Manogue Drive, in Reno. The casting call is open to students in the 4th grade and up and adults of all ages. Prepare a one minute comic character monologue, 16 bars of music from Broadway musical (preferably from Bye Bye Birdie). Bring a head-shot, either 5×7 or 8 ½ x 11, piano accompaniment or CD (optional), and an audition form and release found here www.sierraschoolofperformingarts.org. Minors must bring the signed audition form and release authorized by a parent or guardian. Bring clothes you can move in as there will be a dance audition. First rehearsal and mandatory Parent/Cast meeting is June 19th. Rehearsals:  Wednesday and Thursday, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., at Bishop Manogue High School. Participants must attend all technical and dress rehearsals. Detailed weekly schedules will be emailed to the cast by Friday. You only need to audition on one day. If you cannot attend this audition please contact us to send a video audition. The show will be September 6 and 8, at the Pioneer Underground Theater.

In June, the school offers a Performing Arts Camp, which runs from June 17 through 21, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., at Galena High School, 3600 Butch Cassidy Way, in Reno. This one-week camp offers electives and workshops in performing arts focusing on hip hop, Broadway dance, improvisation, mask-work, movement and voice. Open to students in grades 4 through 9, the camp will culminate with a cast show on Friday, June 21, at 2:00 p.m. Register at www.sierraschoolofperformingarts.org or 775-852-7740.
