What: “A New State of Mind: Ending the Stigma of Mental Illness” and “KNPB Reports: Mental Health in Nevada”

Why: To foster a community wide understanding of the problems of mental health in the state of Nevada.
KNPB Public Broadcasting set to shine light on the stigma of mental illness in the nation and the institutions available to those suffering mental health issues by airing two programs on Thursday, May 30 from 8-10 p.m. on KNPB Channel 5.1.
The first program to air at 8 p.m. will be “A New State of Mind: Ending the Stigma of Mental Illness” which is narrated by actress and mental rights activist, Glenn Close. The documentary produced by KVIE, the PBS Member Station from Sacramento, California also features actors like Greg Louganis and Patrick Kennedy and highlights the struggles, recovery and resilience many experience when facing mental health challenges.
The second program, “KNPB Reports: Mental Health in Nevada,” will focus on the differences between the private sector and public sector of mental health in the state of Nevada. Produced locally by KNPB, host Brent Boynton interviews numerous local mental health professionals about the mental health systems and institutions in place in Nevada. This will air from 9-10 p.m.
