Join the Museum for a blow-out Summer kick-off block party as we celebrate the exhibition Voces y Visiones!
Enjoy a free day at the Museum with hands-on art projects, face-painting and live performances – including Voces artist Miguel Luciano’s “Pimp My Piragua” (pictured above). Food trucks, musicians and craft vendors will be on-site, along with Tumblebus and climbing wall!

ART BITE Miguel Luciano on Pimp my Piragua and Contemporary Latin American Art
Miguel Luciano’s bicycle-based work Pimp My Piragua activates public spaces on a neighborhood scale. Hear from Luciano about the contexts for which this work has been created. Then come back on Saturday, June 8 for BARRIO BLOCK PARTY and see it in action. $10 / Free for Museum Members

Dance Cinema with Artist Collaboration Marion Walker
In partnership with the Holland Project, the Museum presents an evening of dance cinema curated by Marion Walker (Jessie Marion Smith & Kyle Walker Akins, Co-Directors). This special program will feature professional dance films from around the world in addition to dance films made locally during Marion Walker’s dance film workshop held this June at The Holland Project. Grab a drink, groove to the live music, and check out the galleries. Sponsorship by Barrick Gold of North America and hosted by The X 100.1 FM Radio and Great Basin Brewing Company. Wine bar sponsored by Whispering Vine Wine Company and bottled water donated by Sam’s Club. Bring the kids for Kids Open Art Studio, available from 5 – 7 pm for $4 per child. First Thursday is free for Museum members or non-members with paid regular admission.

Art Afternoon: Workshop & Social for Seniors
Friday, June 14 / 1 to 3 pm
Expand your interests with a docent-guided tour and studio art class. Light refreshments. No art background necessary.
Cost for a session: $7 / $6 Museum members. Sponsored in part by the Leonette Foundation.

Sunday Music Brunch with Kenn Pettiford
June 16 / 11 am – 1 pm
Enjoy brunch presented by Composition accompanied by live acoustical music. Menu features Eggs Benedict, fresh fruit Mimosas and an omelet station. Doors open at 10 am. A la carte menu from $3. Museum members receive 10% savings.
