Reno celebrates Earth Day Sunday

reno-logo-7197935-1908220CITY OF RENO NEWS—The City of Reno is proud to be one of the sponsors for this year’s Reno Earth Day Celebration.

The Reno Earth Day Celebration will be on Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Idlewild Park (1900 Idlewild Drive, Reno).

On February 27, 2013, the Reno City Council approved $3,600 in in-kind sponsorship for City services for the event.

Sunday’s celebration will educate the public about the Earth we live within, promote sustainable habits, and develop and expand understanding on different perspectives about our world. The community event will include art, music, performances, food, economic development, nature, the environment, education, technology, culture, and diversity. For fiscal year 2012-2013, the Reno City Council outlined Arts, Culture and Special Events as one of their priorities. The City of Reno encourages community events that add quality of life for our residents and visitors. The City of Reno strives to protect and add both regional and local special events which will grow the current tourism base and attract new visitors.
