WASHOE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE – The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is looking for dynamic, community-minded individuals who are able to communicate calmly and effectively during a crisis situation to apply for a Communications Specialist Trainee position now available in the Sheriff’s Emergency Services Dispatch Center.

This is the entry level in the Communications Specialist series. Trainees perform most of the duties of a Communications Specialist such as receiving emergency service calls from the public, screening those calls for appropriate emergency response and helping to coordinate that response.

“Communications Specialists are the backbone of our region’s emergency response system,” Assistant Sheriff Tim Kuzanek said. “On a daily basis, they work to save lives while helping to protect the safety of emergency responders in the field.”

Applicants must be good communicators, able to interact well with members of the public, particularly in highly stressful, emotional situations, and able to coordinate multiple responding agencies. Applicants must also be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Applications are being accepted through Friday, March 29, 2013. For additional information go to washoecounty.us/humanresources

Persons with questions may contact Human Resources Specialist Margaret Brindzak at 775-328-6383, or email [email protected].

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office celebrated 150 years of proud service and community partnership in 2011. Sheriff Michael Haley is the 25th person elected to serve as the Sheriff of Washoe County. His office continues to be the only full service public safety agency operating within northern Nevada and is responsible for operating the consolidated detention facility, regional crime lab, Northern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center, Internet Crimes against Children Task Force, court security, service of civil process, traditional street patrols and Regional Animal Services.
