Date:

block_n-7903723-1603952Greater Nevada Credit Union members, University of Nevada, Reno alumni and other donors rallied over the last few months to raise money during “It’s Time to Support the Band,” a fundraising campaign to benefit the University’s Marching Band, known as the “Pride of the Sierra.” With end-of -year donations, donations met the $15,000 matching gift challenge.
During the men’s basketball game this Wednesday between the Nevada Wolf Pack and Colorado State Rams, representatives from Greater Nevada Credit Union will present a check to the University and the marching band for $35,000, which includes the matching $15,000 amount and an initial gift of $20,000. The company has pledged to match up to $45,000 in donations through the fundraising campaign which continues for the next two years.
In addition, Greater Nevada Credit Union held a branch contest in January selling $1 Wolf Pack Marching Band drum cards for a matching donation. With the branch contest, in-branch donations, contributions made at Wolf Pack games and other fundraising events, the credit union has raised an additional $5,200. All money raised helps to hire additional instructional staff, fund band scholarships, provide new uniforms and cover travel expenses so the band can continue to entertain northern Nevada families and help support Wolf Pack Athletics.
