Don Britton is an award winning artist who creates representational oil paintings of the landscapes of the American West from the deserts and canyons of the Southwest to the California coast to the Northern Rockies. His focus encompasses the central Sierras near Lake Tahoe where he lives as well as a significant amount of work from the western National Parks and the Pacific coast.
Describing his work process he notes, “Most of my paintings are done in the studio. However, they begin with field trips, lots of photographs and usually plein air sketches to help define the composition and color relationships. The final studio painting comes from an amalgam of these sources along with whatever else helps to best describe the setting and express what I see as its particular beauty.”
His work has been featured in the magazine “International Artist”. In addition to being in many beautiful homes across the country, his paintings have been selected by the US State Department for installation in two American Embassies.
Donald will be on site with his art on display from 11:00 am 3:00 pm on Saturday December 8th at Moana Nursery, 1100 W. Moana Lane in Reno.
