Date:

MOANA NURSERY NEWS RELEASE

First in Moana Nursery’s Meet the Artist Series is Monika Johnson of Incline Village.  Johnson, a hairstylist who owns her own salon, started her artistic career creating hairstyles that can be considered living, wearable art based on hair color.

She started her art career painting still lifes in acrylic, moved on to figures and now enjoys oil painting outside in “plein air.”

Johnson spent many years studying with Wendy Ulman.  After a hiatus of several years, she attended workshops with Wanda Mumm in Glacier National Park, Mont., and Gregory Kondos of Sierra Nevada College to hone her skills in landscapes and oil in plein air.  Recently she has been studying with Erik Holland and Shelley Zentner.

Johnson is currently exhibiting her work at M Studio in Incline Village..

She will be painting live and have her art on display from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Moana Nursery, 1100 W. Moana Lane in Reno.
