Nevada men’s golf team takes 10th at Jim Rivers Intercollegiate

image001-5120236-9089676The University of Nevada men’s golf team finished its second tournament of the year in a tie for 10th at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

The Wolf Pack finished with a 33-over 897 for the three-round tournament, and shot a combined 303 on Tuesday. The Wolf Pack started slow on Monday shooting a 304 in the first round, but quickly turned it around in the second round by shooting a 290.

Individually, junior Ryan Mulvany lead the way for the Pack as he tied for 13th with a score of 219, which is three over at the par-72 Squire Creek Country Club.

Sophomore Gustavo Chuang also broke the top 20 with a tie for 16th after a 71 on Tuesday. Sophomore Andrew Cornella shot a 77 and tied for 29th.

Sophomore Taylor Knoll placed 59th, and sophomore Zak Griffiths was tied for 61st.

Louisiana Tech’s Travis Wilmore won medalist honors with a nine-under-par 206. Central Arkansas won the tournament with a five-over 869.

Nevada is off until Oct. 15-16 when it travels to Fairfax, Calif., to play in the Alister Mackenzie Invitational, which is hosted by Cal.

“We are looking forward to being back on campus, and preparing for a tough tournament against Cal in two weeks,” said head coach Jacob Wilner.
