Radical Reels extreme sports film fest comes to UNR

Date:

SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

The University of Nevada-Reno will play host to one of the most concentrated showcasing of extreme action sports on Sept. 19 when Radical Reels, the touring short film series of the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival, comes to the Reno campus.

Viewers will be treated to compressed versions of 11 of the most adrenaline-fueled action flicks on the planet featuring skiers and snowboarders slashing Alaska steeps, kayakers dropping towering waterfalls, mountain bikers bombing rugged terrain, and climbers scaling vertical stone.

Film footage comes from some of the most critically acclaimed recent action films, including The Art of Flight, All.I.Can: Preseverance, Reel Rock: Race for the Nose and Concrete Dreams.

The films showcase the pioneers in today’s action sports world — world renowned athletes like Dean Potter, Travis Rice and Callum Pettit.

Radical Reels is brought to Reno by the UNR Geography Club. The film showing will be held in the theater at UNR’s Joe Crowley Student Union on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students and $12 for the public.
