World No.1 Joey Chestnut Defends World Rib Eating Title at the 24th Annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off

Joey Chestnut, the world’s No.1-ranked competitive eater, thrilled a capacity crowd by reclaiming the World Rib Eating title today at the 7th Annual Nugget World Rib Eating Championship during the 24th Annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off.

Chestnut, the reigning champion, consumed an impressive 8 pounds of pork rib meat.   Second-place finisher, and number six-ranked eater, Matt “Megatoad” Stonie downed a hefty 7.5 pounds, beating out number two-ranked eater, Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti. Bertoletti ate 5.8 pounds of ribs during the 12-minute contest.

The only lady at the table, Michelle “Cardboard Shell” Lesco took fourth place at the contest, eating 4.6 pounds of the pork ribs. Lesco is ranked 19th in the competitive eating world.

Fifth place went to Juan “More Bite” Rodriguez, who ate 4.5 pounds.

This event kicks off the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off, a massive BBQ festival, which runs through Monday, September 3, 2012.   More than 500,000 from across the country trek to Sparks, Nevada for the annual event.
