SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

Renown Health is proud to announce the region’s first and only accredited rehabilitation hospital. Renown Rehabilitation earned the three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International, an independent, accrediting body of health and human service providers founded in 1966.

This is the first time Renown Rehab or any rehabilitation facility in the region has been recognized with this accreditation, and makes it the only CARF Accredited facility between Sacramento and Salt Lake City. This accreditation was granted for a 3-year period, which is exceptional for a first-time applicant.

“This achievement is an indication of our organization’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the people we serve,” Evelyn McGuckin, RN, executive director of Rehabilitation Services at Renown Health, said. “Quality rehabilitation care has always been paramount in Reno, and this accreditation punctuates Renown’s continued level of care.”

The CARF accrediting body recognized Renown Rehab as having a “well-established program focused on person-centered care that is evident in its dedication to excellence in the provision of care.”

Achieving accreditation requires adherence to proven standards for best practices in patient care, a commitment to continuous quality improvement and ongoing performance monitoring. The accreditation was awarded following in-depth, pre and on-site surveys at Renown Rehab.

“This accreditation will not change the way we deliver quality care; however, it does recognizes our ability to serve our patients with a qualified, individualized approach to optimize their rehab experience,” Stefan Humphries, M.D., MBA, medical director of Renown Rehab. “This accreditation represents our commitment to excellence in the provision of intensive inpatient rehabilitation care.”
