School of Medicine to hold free respite informational seminar

logo-mark-logotype-pms-282-stacked-4The Nevada Geriatric Education Center, in partnership with the University of Nevada School of Medicine and with support from the Aging and Disabilities Services Division, will hold an interactive video seminar entitled “Information and Referral for Respite” on Thursday, June 7, from 8:45 to 11:15 a.m. in the following communities: Battle Mountain, Elko, Ely, Eureka, Fallon, Gardnerville, Las Vegas, Lovelock, Reno and Winnemucca. Specific information about these locations is available upon registration for the event.

Family and professional caregivers are encouraged to attend this free training presented by Cheryl M. Dinnell, the Nevada Lifespan Respite Care program coordinator. Her objectives include explaining how to begin the respite conversation and how to recognize signs of burnout, explaining the impact of giving care on the caregiver’s health, discussing strategies to help caregivers get respite and reviewing respite resources that are available for caregivers.
