Community Health Nursing clinics offer HPV vaccines for Lyon Co. boys and girls

Date:

SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

The Nevada State Health Division’s Community Health Nursing clinics throughout Lyon County offer conveniently located and very affordable services for men, women and children.

The HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccine is now available through the Vaccine for Children Program at the Community Health Nursing clinics in Dayton, Silver Springs, Fernley and Yerington for those who are under-insured, without insurance or using Medicaid. The vaccine is available to both boys and girls ages 11 years to 18 years.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics both recommend HPV vaccination for girls at age 11 or 12 years and for teen girls who have not yet been fully vaccinated. HPV vaccines have been shown to prevent most types of cervical cancers and genital warts and to offer protection against cancers of the anus, vagina and vulva.
