Date:

CITY OF RENO NEWS RELEASE

The Reno-Stead Water Reclamation Facility has received an award from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as a worksite that is a model for safety and health.

This is the fourth time the Reno-Stead Water Reclamation Facility has received this award.

The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) award recognizes employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system. The Nevada SHARP program currently has 19 employers in the program. The city of Reno is the only public entity (government) site in the SHARP program in the state of Nevada.

The Reno-Stead Water Reclamation Facility is operated by the city of Reno’s Environmental Engineering Section. The effluent produced by the facility is currently used for irrigation at the Sierra Sage Golf Course and the North Valleys Sports Complex. It is also used to augment flows to Swan Lake.

For more information about OSHA’s SHARP program visit www.osha.gov/dcsp/smallbusiness/sharp.html.
