Reid meets with Elko High students

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Sen. Harry Reid met yesterday with students from Elko High School participating in the Close Up program to discuss civic education and participation. The student group was led by Elko High teacher James Guthrie and Close Up representative Seth Maiman.

“I was pleased to meet with Elko High School students participating in the Close Up program,” said Reid. “Close Up plays an important role in providing students with leadership and citizenship educational experiences, and I know these young people will continue to be active participants in government.”

Since 1971, Close Up has provided more than 725,000 students with a Washington civic education experience. Close Up programs seek to educate, inspire and empower students by providing them with the skills and experience they need to become active citizens in government.
