National Minority Health Month

Date:

April is National Minority Health Month. This year’s national theme is: “Health Equity Can’t Wait. Act Now in Your CommUNITY!”

Dr. Tracey D. Green, State Health Officer states, “Access to health care is of concern to all Nevadans. Given our state’s demographics, health equity is an emerging issue. As the State Health Officer, I am reaching out to all public health agencies, related organizations and partners to thank them for their past efforts, and engage them in Minority Health Month activities. I encourage them this month to re-asses the impact of all policies and programs on racial and ethnic health disparities and review all educational material to make certain that sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences is enhanced. The key is action. As prevention grows in importance to our state and our nation’s health care delivery, being united in these efforts is more important than ever.”
