University of Nevada, Reno research office adds key personnel

The University of Nevada, Reno Office of Research has added Dan Langford as Manager of Industry Partnerships for the Technology Transfer Office.

Langford will manage and foster technology commercialization and industry partnerships to enhance the link between industry and research activities at the University in order to bring technologies to the marketplace.

“Dan brings a wealth of knowledge that will be valuable as we continue and build on our work to connect with industry,” Ryan Heck, technology transfer office director, said. “His guidance of our community engagement programs is already bringing results.”

Langford’s background with various start-up companies and technology commercialization efforts will be important to establishing more research collaborations between industry and the University of Nevada, Reno that will help in the state’s economic development efforts. He has recently conducted business development, and was the intellectual property manager at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Langford has many years experience across multiple technology industries. He has also been involved in conducting industry and market research and assisting start-up businesses with strategy and capital raising. Langford holds a bachelor’s of biotechnology innovation degree from the Queensland University of Technology and a master’s of applied law degree in intellectual property from the University of Queensland.

The Office of Research mission includes fostering an environment for University of Nevada, Reno researchers and scholars to generate new ideas and solutions to complex problems; and to foster research and scholarly partnerships and collaborations across disciplines and academic sectors within and beyond the University.
