Sheriff’s Office investigates carjacking and sexual assault on Wedekind Road

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a carjacking and sexual assault at the 3700 block of Wedekind Road in Reno at approximately 8:50 a.m. today.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with an adult female who advised that at approximately 8:30 a.m. she was driving eastbound on Wedekind Road, between El Rancho and Sullivan, when she was forced to stop by an oncoming vehicle and threatened by gunpoint. The vehicle was occupied by three male subjects who were wearing dark clothing, along with ski masks and gloves to hide their identity.

The female was taken out of her vehicle at gunpoint and forced into the suspect vehicle. Two of the suspects drove the victim’s vehicle a short distance to a dirt driveway of an unoccupied residence. The third suspect drove the suspect vehicle to the side of the residence where the sexual assault took place.

The suspect’s vehicle is being described as a 1990s four-door sedan, dark green with tinted windows, gray cloth interior, stock rims and no license plates. A witness told investigators that two male subjects who were on foot and dressed in dark clothing, attempted to stop her as she drove by the same area at approximately 5 a.m.
