SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

Sen. Greg Brower (R – Reno) filed his declaration of candidacy today, formally starting his 2012 campaign for Senate District 15. Brower was appointed to the State Senate in 2011 upon the retirement of the late Senator Bill Raggio. Following redistricting, his district has remained largely the same and includes portions of the north valleys, northwest Reno, Caughlin Ranch, Lakeridge and part of the Windy Hill area in south Reno.

“It has been a great honor to serve my fellow citizens of Washoe County in the State Senate,” said Brower. “I look forward to continuing to work on the most critical issues facing our state, including diversifying our economy, creating jobs and improving our public education system.”

Brower previously represented southwestern Washoe County in the State Assembly, where he was named “Freshman of the Year” during his first term. He later served as U.S. attorney for Nevada, successfully prosecuting a wide range of crimes including financial fraud, public corruption, child pornography and gang-related violence.

Brower lives in southwest Reno with his wife Loren and their two daughters. Raised in Nevada, he earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley and his law degree from The George Washington University. He is a Navy veteran.
