TMCC hosts ‘Leap into Financial Aid’ night

Date:

TMCC NEWS RELEASE

tmcc-300x101-3524826-1688016As a way to help students plan for the cost of college, Truckee Meadows Community College is hosting a “Leap into Financial Aid” night on Wednesday, Feb. 29.

TMCC financial aid experts will be on hand from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to address all questions regarding Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), scholarships, veterans education benefits, Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship, student employment, Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEARUP) and the Success First Program.

“We know that sometimes this process can be overwhelming for families and we are here to help from the beginning questions to graduation day,” said Echo Lynch, financial aid outreach coordinator at TMCC. “When families begin the path to fund the cost of higher education early, they have time to ask all the right questions. We welcome all students and their families to come ask questions and begin the process.  We also encourage continuing TMCC students to attend.”

Financial aid is awarded to students who demonstrate a need for financial assistance in order to attend an institute of higher education. However, students are expected to contribute to their education and most financial aid packages will not satisfy all educational needs.

Need is determined by deducting your and your family’s contribution from the total cost of education. The cost of education usually consists of tuition, fees for the number of credits you plan to take each semester, living expenses, number of dependent children and transportation costs.
